Picture 3-3

For those of you like me without HBO but you would love to see “Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Dallas Cowboys” click on this link and check it out.
Episode Seven – Jason Garrett “You need to have swagger! What is Swagger? It”s confidence. If you don’t have that, then there’s the door.”
I love the NFL.

First baseball game with Jake

So last Sunday I took Jake to his first Braves game. It was a big deal for both him and me.. We had to start our day off of course with the VARSITY. You have not been to a ball game unless you have eaten at the Varsity first. Then we sat on a ton of traffic because of all the road work inside the perimeter. BrUTAL. Then once we got to the game Jake’s eyes lit up and the size of the field, the size of the BIG SCREEN and the excitement in the crowd. We both had our gloves waiting for a fly ball in right field. To bad Braves lost bad 14-5. So as the Braves were getting crushed Jake got to do some batting cages and just be a kid. It couldn’t have been better (ok maybe a win would have been better).

And so it begins….

So Jake signed up for football last Saturday and will start practices in August.
He has played soccer, basketball, and baseball. In each sport he just wants to tackle people.
Outside of me being concerned that Jake can’t get off the ground with all his pads on, I think he’ll have a good time.

For those that don’t know me well, I have deep roots in this sport and I hope my son enjoys it. Bring out the tums! Lord help me.

Jake Got the Game Ball

No picture (yet)…
But just thought you should all know… my boy went 3-3 in his new baseball helmet ($20 nike supercool lid from Dick’s Sporting goods) and yes…. he killed it. Proud of him even when he was playing with his gum and a line drive went right by him in center field. Problem was that they didn’t let him wear his helmet out in the field. 😉

Camp Out with 41 reasons to Watch the Super Bowl

Picture 1

I LOVE this site.
It represents what happens when a team has one goal and they accomplish it together.

A couple of notes to not miss:
Make sure you view the story of Mike Woicik (New England Patriots – 2004 Champion). Mike has SIX Super Bowl rings. Three with the Cowboys, three with the Patriots. I worked with Mike during my time in Dallas and I can’t tell you what an amazing person he is. I remember walking into the weight room one day looking for Mike and couldn’t find him. I went to his office and he and Daryl Johnston (moose) were watching the soft spoken Bob Ross work on a painting. It was dead quiet in the room.
Bob-Ross-Tv
Had to be one of the funniest things I saw. Then I found myself watching too.
Also, check out the video on how the rings are made.

If you don’t like football, go read history.
If you love football, go read why.

Make your prediction for the Super Bowl

Images-3-1
Who is going to the Super Bowl and who is going to win??
Great games this weekend. I would like to see either the Patriots go all the way or the Chargers. Patriots to go 19-0 or San Diego surprise everybody. San Diego because Norv Turner is the guy who is responsible for giving me a shot in the NFL. (Cowboys 1993, I ‘ll never forget it). Then he gave me shot in 1995 with the Redskins. In 1993 I was up against Jason Garrett for the number 3 spot (Aikman kinda had the number one spot in hand if you know what I mean.) Then in Washington, while Gus Frerrote and Heath Shuler were battling out #1 and #2 spot, Trent Green and I were battling for the #3 spot. The rest is history. I don’t regret any of it for a second.

Do you want the Patriots to go 19-0 and win it all?

Why or why not? Being a huge sports nut, I want to see history made.
Isn’t it interesting in sports that if a team is really good and have won championship after championship, a common statement you here is “I am so tired of hearing about the _____. I hope they lose.” Seems like you hear that about everything now.
I wish we would celebrate success more, and learn from it.

Incredible Graphics, flash programming, and football trivia – ALL IN ONE!

Sprint has gone overboard with this little gem of a site. I found the link on http://www.nfl.com and was quite surprised.
This is such a great concept!! Not only great programming – but just flat-out well thought through. Love the players – the scoreboard, and the futuristic approach.

Make sure you see the halftime show.

How many points can you get in a game?

Manning

Can you beat my score.

Dallas Airport with Pat

So I had a day trip to Dallas and across the comfy airport seats I see none other than the broadcast legend himself Pat Summerall. I am a little late on the Blogging phenomenon and I wish I would have taken his picture to share with the 20 of you but instead I walked up to him and thanked him for what he has done for the NFL. Sunday’s haven’t been quite the same without hearing his voice on the day’s best games. He looked good and ate well (hot dog was food of choice and what looked like an Arnold Palmer but I would have had to taste it myself to be sure and that might have been a little akward.)

What? Again?

I am not sure if I won this game or if my opponent (Jeff Sandstrom) just really did bad. Nonetheless, I am 5-0 people and walking with a bounce in my step. Next week I have the Ball Bruisers (Mr. Donny Joiner from Kidstuf). I will keep all of you updated as I know you are holding your breath!

Hall of Fame and Michael Irvin

Sat down last night and watched Michael Irvin get inducted into the hall of fame. It was the second time in a year that I watched someone go to the hall of fame that i spent some time with while I was at the cowboys. First it was Troy Aikman – then it was Michael. I have never been one to brag about my time in Dallas -however I will never forget the 2 summers I spent there. It was a total of 8 months that I watched some of the greatest athletes work their butts off to win a championship and you can’t help to push yourself to keep up with their work ethics. I never saw the drugs, steriods or anything else that people label NFL players with. What I did see was guys having a TON of fun and working hard. Winning and being successful does that to you. A favorite story of mine about Michael Irvin is when he dislocated shoulder playing basketball. It was 3 days before training camp and he asked me to throw some routes with him. His left arm was in a sling but still wanted to go throw. I said “if anything more happens to that arm – you know that your not the one that is going to go home right?” He said “don’t worry I won’t go for anything I can’t catch but we won;t have to worry about that will we Brad”. We threw 50 or so balls and we missed 2. Both were my fault. Maybe I should have a category named Cowboy stories.  Good Times.BBÂ
