Project Runway Opening Sequence

Posted by Brad on November 27, 2007

I think this is the fourth season of Project Runway (I started watching last year with my wife) and I ran across the shows new opening. It stays consistent with what they have done before with using green/blue screen compositing for the whole intro. I think last years was better but it is always nice to see different examples.

4 years ago today, my little girl was born.

Posted by Brad on November 26, 2007

Jillian Jiyoung Bretz. 11/26/03.
I’ll never forget when we went in for our ultrasound. We were either going to have another boy (which growing up with my brother, I thought I was plenty prepared to handle) or I was going to have a little girl, which I was secretly hoping for. Bjj44A

God not only blessed me with this little girl, he blessed me with a sweet spirit that would change my life forever.

Incredible Graphics, flash programming, and football trivia – ALL IN ONE!

Posted by Brad on November 24, 2007

Sprint has gone overboard with this little gem of a site. I found the link on www.nfl.com and was quite surprised.
This is such a great concept!! Not only great programming – but just flat-out well thought through. Love the players – the scoreboard, and the futuristic approach.

Make sure you see the halftime show.

How many points can you get in a game?

Can you beat my score.

Weekend Getaway

Posted by Brad on November 17, 2007

So mom and dad are here – kitchen stuff has been crazy, but looks good, and tomorrow is the beginning of a series called “It’s Personal”. Very busy for media right now because we are fighting a three day week next week and we would love to make it a two day week. Jiyoung and I were able to get away Friday night and go to Wyndshape Retreat to hang out with the marriage mentoring staff from all three campuses. John Woodall spoke and it was great. Just to get away was a nice change and much needed. We don’t have family here in Atlanta so when my mom and dad come out it is really great leaving knowing they are in great hands. I hope everybody has a great weekend.

Mom and Dad coming in from California

Posted by Brad on November 14, 2007

For those of you that don’t know, I grew up in San Jose, California all my life.
I moved to Nashville for a year and a half and then to Atlanta in ‘98. I am always excited to see my mom and dad. Jake and Jillian LOVE their grandparents and get spoiled big time. They are both retiring in January and the hope is that they will make the jump from California to Atlanta permanently. They are coming in the middle of some craziness (redoing kitchen and starting brand new series at North Point).

Anybody have any good ideas as to what to cook when you have no kitchen? Any “stovetop” favorites out there for the ol’ microwave?
I am looking forward to seeing some new restaurants, maybe.

Bluefuse Music

Posted by Brad on November 9, 2007

One of the hardest and most important elements of ANY video is the soundtrack. It is CRITICAL and something that I am very anal about. About a year and a half ago I ran across the guys from Blue Fuse music. This is music that you WANT to listen too and the media guys from all campuses have WORN IT OUT. Their website is so easy to navigate through and listen to their whole library. You can hear and download songs via the web or they will send you the whole CD library for free and continue to send you more music as it comes in. Yes there is the typical corporate sounding stuff, drama stuff and a couple of other “interesting” CD’s, but if you listen to the “Undertones” section you will be SOLD.

If your interested in a year long deal, talk to Angelo at Blue Fuse and tell them Brad from North Point sent you. He will hook you up and even give you a deal (It’s either a year long license or individual drop prices). I am not making a dime off this, I just think their stuff rocks and want to make sure that anybody in media or creative arts that works in a church has the opportunity to have great tracks. If you have heard of any other library that would benefit everybody, please share.

Enjoy.

11/4/07 TenBefore for North Point (Video Confessional – Sorta)

Posted by Brad on November 8, 2007

So I figured I would post North Point’s version of the TenBefore. (Ragamuffin has Buckhead’s version) and go through a little bit of the why and the outline. Someday Browns Bridge Peeps might play in our reindeer games. :)

The TenBefore concept was two-fold. One, to take “announcements” out of the service and present them in a unique and engaging way and two, break down some walls for the first time church attender. We have learned a ton in the past year and half that we have been doing it and now that all three campuses are involved, it will only get better with collaboration.

For the first year it only showed on North Point’s campus, now it is showing on all three and yes, scheduling can be a nightmare especially when three campuses are doing three different message series. That’s when you see the media guys curl up into little balls with our thumbs in our mouths.

Each campus (Buckhead, North Point, Browns Bridge) gets their own each week. All the host segments are very similar with the exception of a couple places. Kelly does three different intro’s for each campus and the rest of the pieces are the same although graphics have to change for the “information pieces”.

Here is a look at the structure:
- Kelly Welcome & Mission Statement.
- Kelly kicks to what’s coming up (go to promo’s)
- PROMO’s (Having these in the middle allows us to add or change things on the fly. We learned that the hard way.)
- Back to Kelly to promote series or upcoming event.
- Kelly ends
- Service Begins.

Normally each TenBefore runs for two weeks with slightly different info added or subtracted.
Also, each campus can throw in a video in the promo section if they want too. (See Buckhead’s version and their promo for Jeff’s new series “Illusion”.

We are taking the month of December off for the TenBefore and instead doing pre-service Christmas music as people walk-in. It is always a nice rest.

Again, we are learning each time we do these and still have a ways to go but we keep pushing to try to get better.
This is a big part of my world so I thought I would talk about it a little.

Love to know your thoughts.

Brad

(also, I am no web programmer and would love to know how to embed these into my template from wordpress).

Fantasy Update (brutal beating)

Posted by Brad on November 7, 2007

So I was up 58 points going into Monday night’s game and the Steelers, specifically Roethlisburger has the half of his career with 5 touchdowns. Unfortunately, my opponent had him on his team. I think I moped today just a little.

If you are a Mat Kearney Fan…

Posted by Brad on November 4, 2007

…he has a song on iTunes that is showing up under the album “Nothing left to Lose”.
Weird thing is, I bought this album a while ago and the song didn’t come with it.
I guess he released it for the 2007 season of Grey’s Anatomy and it is now included if you buy the album.
It is a great song and worth the extra $.99.

Media Team Offsite

Posted by Brad on November 2, 2007

Wednesday we might have started a tradition for Halloween in media world – an offsite at my house!
It was a great time of prayer, looking back at this past year, looking forward at what lies ahead and living our mission statement in our day to day work.

Our mission statement as a department is to create media that makes a lasting impression.

Internally, we want to maintain such an excellence factor that throughout the campuses, the different ministries will WANT to look to us first and not as a last resort. This requires not only a great end product but an incredible heart of “customer service”. I know too many talented people that do not want to serve. Listen and then listen some more to those that honor you with a request for your gift set.

We’ve learned a lot this year. One Example,

the TenBefore went from this…

10B41

to this.
10B42

Collaboration works.
